Opening the stage to everyone
At BMOS Musical Theatre Company, we believe that talent, creativity and passion should never be limited by personal circumstances.
For many people, taking part in musical theatre simply isn’t possible. Financial pressures, health conditions, disability, caring responsibilities, social isolation, confidence, cultural barriers or a lack of opportunity can all prevent someone from experiencing the life-changing benefits that theatre can bring.
We want to help change that.
Our Community Outreach programme exists to create opportunities for people who face barriers to participating in musical theatre. Whether your challenge is financial, physical, emotional or social, our ambition is to make our company more accessible, more inclusive and more representative of the communities we serve.
More than a performance
Taking part in musical theatre develops confidence, friendships, teamwork, creativity and wellbeing. It creates a sense of belonging and gives people the opportunity to discover talents they may never have realised they had.
Everyone deserves the chance to experience those benefits.
Our vision
We are developing a range of initiatives designed to remove barriers to participation, including:
- Bursaries to help reduce the financial cost of taking part.
- Supported opportunities for people facing personal or social challenges.
- Programmes that encourage participation from communities currently under-represented in musical theatre.
- Mentoring and support to help individuals build confidence and develop their potential.
Our aim is simple: to ensure that ability, enthusiasm and commitment, not personal circumstances, determine who has the chance to take centre stage.
Could we help you?
If there any difficulties stopping you, or someone you support, from taking part in musical theatre, we would love to hear from you.
Likewise, if you are a school, charity, community organisation or support service that shares our vision, we welcome the opportunity to work together to create meaningful opportunities for people across Birmingham.
Together, we can make musical theatre accessible to everyone who has the passion to be part of it. Contact us here.
